From Boulders to Building Sand: The Versatility of VSI Crushers in Sustainable Construction

Time:Jul 22,2025

The core advantage of the VSI crusher lies in its "kinetic energy conversion + three-dimensional impact" crushing mechanism, which breaks through the planar extrusion mode of traditional jaw and cone crushers, achieving dual optimization of particle shape and gradation.

1. Dual-mode crushing: Adaptable to diverse material requirements

"Stone-on-stone" mode: After the material is accelerated by the high-speed rotating rotor, it collides with the impact plate or the material liner, reducing metal wear through self-crushing. It is suitable for low-abrasive materials (such as limestone and shale), and the produced machine-made sand has a round grain shape with a needle-like and flaky content of less than 5%, approaching that of natural river sand.

"Stone hitting iron" mode: The material directly strikes the metal impact block, with high energy concentration. It is suitable for high-hardness materials (such as basalt and granite), and the crushing efficiency is increased by 40%. Moreover, the gradation continuity of the finished sand is better than that of traditional equipment.

Case of mode switching: After a basalt mine adopted VSI equipment, the hourly output increased from 200 tons to 350 tons, the proportion of 0-5mm machine-made sand reached 65%, and the powder passing rate decreased by 15%, significantly reducing the subsequent screening cost.

2. Three-dimensional shaping and dynamic gradation control

Three-dimensional collision design: The inclination Angle of the peripheral guard plate (15°-20°) combined with the high-speed rotation of the throwing head (>70m/s) enables the material to form multiple three-dimensional collisions within the crushing chamber, increasing the roundness of the particle shape (roundness coefficient) from 0.6 to 0.85.

Online gradation adjustment: By adjusting the gap of the discharge port grid (2-10mm adjustable) and the rotor speed (1500-2200rpm variable frequency control), the fineness modulus (2.3-3.2) and the gradation curve are precisely matched to meet the requirements of high-grade concrete from C30 to C80.

Data support: After a certain high-speed railway project adopted VSI machine-made sand, the 28-day compressive strength of the concrete increased by 22%, and the anti-seepage grade jumped from P8 to P12, effectively extending the service life of the project.
